We partner with the Gig Harbor BoatShop for our classes which are held at their facility. GHB members will receive a discount on class fees.

Half-Hull Model Workshop

Attend this full day session and learn how to build an 1/8 scale half hull model. We’ll cover everything you need to know from choosing a design and materials, to milling lumber, carving to shape and finishing. In this session you will make a model of a 16’ classic rowboat. Then with the skills you’ll learn – who knows?

Making Wood Cleats

Attend this 2 hour workshop and you’ll learn to design and make wooden horn cleats, thumb cleats and more. We’ll design cleats, select wood, make patterns and shape cleats in various types and sizes. You’ll learn how to make practical beautiful cleats easily and inexpensively.

Leathering Oars and Spars

Leather has many uses aboard boats. It makes an excellent cushion, prevents chafe and provides insulation. Join us for a 4 hour workshop and we will introduce you to putting leather to work on your boat. We will cover leathering oars, spars mooring lines and more. You will learn what simple tools are required, what materials to use and how to measure and pattern the leather.
