Orca was brought to Grapeview Point Boat Works for a complete refinishing. The owners also wanted new aft-facing seats and fuel tank boxes that were more in keeping with the boats style. Although she was basically sound, her years (and a few well-meant but rough repairs and modifications) meant the project needed to be expanded to return Orca to her glory.

The refinishing required stripping all paint and varnish. The chines and transom edges were re-glassed and a new glassed plywood motor mount was installed. The chines were refastened, as were the bottom stringers.

All hardware and metal trim was replaced or rechromed. The fiberglass sheathing was removed from the deck, and after fairing and repairing damaged areas, two coats of epoxy were applied.
All brightwork then received six coats of varnish. New wiring was installed, protected by a fuse block behind the dashboard.

After rebunging fasteners, sanding, filling, sanding, priming, sanding, painting, sanding and painting again, she was looking great! Finally, the waterline was corrected and a red boot stripe was added.
With her structural integrity restored, and fresh paint and varnish, Orca is again ready to take her owners boating in style!
