This boat features two rowing stations with folding bronze outriggers and additional seats in the ends with short decks forward and aft, a low coaming all around the cockpit and removable bulkheads under the decks provide dry storage.
The hull is okoume plywood on white oak keel and stems. She has oak frames on 5” centers, with floorboards and ceiling of yellow cedar up to the thwarts.
This boat is Grapeview Point Boat Works’ variation of a St. Lawrence River Skiff designed in 1885. The Skiffs were originally used by guides to row fisherman around the St. Lawrence River. Later the boats were adopted by summer residents for their own use. Many featured sprits’l rigs and were always raced without rudders, using crew weight and sail trim to maneuver.
